Summer School at Julich Supercomputing Centre, Germany

Julich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) is a partner in the LinkSCEEM project and home to largest supercomputer in Europe, JUQUEEN. JSC is organizing a programme for guest students during the 2013 summer vacation which targets students of science and engineering, informatics and mathematics who have already completed their first degree but have not yet finished their master's course (i.e. neither PhD students nor PostDocs).

The students will work together with scientists from JSC on topics of current interest in research and development. Depending on their previous experience and interests, they will be involved in various fields of work, for example: Computational Science, Applied Mathematics, High-Performance Computing, Visualisation, Computer Architectures, Distributed Computing,...

The programme will run for ten weeks from 5 August to 11 October 2013. The students will use the supercomputing facilities of JSC and should be familiar with computer-oriented areas of their subjects. In addition, they should also have practical computer experience including at least a good knowledge of programming with C, C++ or Fortran on Unix systems.

For the duration of the programme, the students will be employed and paid as student assistants (19 hours per week). The participants are expected to be resident in Julich for the entire period. Separate financial support for accommodation is intended.

Full details of the programme, including contact and application procedure information, can be found at:

Please note that the closing date for applications is the 30th April 2013.
